Where Have All The Comments Gone?

Posted on 11 Dec 2006 under Humour, Site Designing

It is with a heavy (OK, to be honest, a frustrated) heart that I must tell you that I made a bit of a goof-up (understatement) today. I went into Fantastico (the automatic script/software installer that sometimes comes with cPanel). Under “Blogs”, I noticed it said that I have a blog installed under the directory [...]

Sellout And The Blues.

Posted on 10 Nov 2006 under GNEC, Journal/Life Updates, Site Designing

Notice anything different about the blog? Pretty much everything? Yeah, the theme and the ads (which you won’t be able to see if you’re using an ad-blocker). Let’s start with the ads… I never thought I’d ever put ads on any of my websites, but there they are. (I hear Manas’s voice saying “sellout” ) [...]

No more valid CSS.

Posted on 05 Nov 2006 under Site Designing

The W3C CSS validator does not support opacity in CSS, even though browsers like Safari and Firefox have been supporting it since 2004 (Opera too, started supporting opacity later that year, apparently). Internet Explorer (like always) plays spoilsport. So you need to make something called a filter apparently and then use the opacity tag. Anyway, [...]

Sitescore, Favicon & PostRating plugin aaaannnnddd…. WOOHOO!

Posted on 04 Nov 2006 under Site Designing

So a couple of days back, I log on to the internet, and log onto Silktide Sitescore. (I’ve been waiting for my site to finally get indexed by Alexa, which improves the sitescore because it proves how popular/visited your site is, and popularity is one of the measurements for Sitescore). So, this morning, I notice [...]

XHTML Compliance.

One of the things I decided on while making the website is that I’m going to keep it XHTML compliant. So the (very) basic template I’m currently testing (view previous post) is XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant, as well as CSS compliant. I also want to use those fancy “XHTML 1.0 compliant” buttons on my blog, [...]

My first PHP page.

Posted on 08 Oct 2006 under Site Designing

Until a few days back, I was seriously considering removing the “Site Designing” category from my WordPress categories. Today, however, I just started the physical work on the new site. Please clear your lungs, take a deep breath in and get ready to laugh at my first PHP page: www.gurdit.com/work/mysite/ Yunheng (n0obie4life) has been online [...]

Compatibility

Posted on 03 Apr 2006 under Site Designing

It’s annoying… just when you find some good feature or effect or script you’d like to use on your website, you find out that certain browsers have compatibility issues with it… AARGH! The other day I discovered that Firefox happily obliges when it comes to all the cool CSS effects, but Internet Explorer pisses on [...]
