In the next couple of weeks, I’m shifting houses. I’ll be moving from a fully furnished (and rather well done) flat into a sparsely furnished one in which I’ll have to buy some furniture and white and brown goods of my own. I’m living a little in that anticipation of moving into a new house, having new stuff.

This reminds of something I once read about being happy. The advice was to plan a holiday, in the fairly distant future, with friends/ family. Why? Because you have something to look forward to. Even if the holiday doesn’t happen because you don’t get leave from office or because your friends backed out. Happiness is apparently generated by the anticipation of something good or exciting on the horizon.

Well, it’s certainly working in my case. Yours?

  1. As always, you provide food for thought. I like the idea! More fuel for day dreamers like me, and even attends to the avid planner in me so score on all counts!;)

  2. I dont really know, but i definitely like the idea of anticipating happiness inducing activities but never actually getting around to doing them. That will save me a lot of money!

  3. Anticipation is a good thing.. Don’t let it become anxiety though.. In my experience, I tend to struggle between the two and that’s not always a very happy thing.

  4. >> Priya: I’m always full of great ideas 😉

    >> Aditi: Lol!

    >> Tripti: That’s a really interesting point of view. *strokes chin* Indeed.
